The phone with the Clicks Communicator keyboard has 12 GB of RAM, large battery and Android 17 at launch

Instead of the initially planned silicon-carbon battery

The Clicks Communicator phone, available from December 2026, has 12 GB of RAM, a 4,350 mAh battery, and runs Android 17 since launch, turning a nostalgic concept into a completely modern device. This device, created by Clicks Technology, tries to redefine the role of physical keyboard phones in the age of smartphones, not by simply going back in time, but by integrating advanced technologies into a format that puts communication ahead of all other functions.

The project started with a simple idea: bring back the physical keyboard to mobile devices. What started as a design experiment has become a bigger ambition - to build a phone that delivers the experience of a classic keyboard, but without sacrificing the capabilities of a next-generation smartphone. Instead of just a tribute to BlackBerry, Clicks Communicator is trying to reimagine what a mobile device should prioritize these days: efficient and intuitive communication, and all the other features - apps, connectivity, multimedia - to stay available, but in the background.

At the initial presentation at CES 2026 in January, the phone was announced with 8 GB RAM, a 4,000 mAh battery and Android 16 as the operating system. However, after months of enthusiastic user feedback and internal analysis, the Clicks team decided to fully review the specifications. The result is a significantly improved version: RAM has been increased to 12 GB, and battery capacity has been increased from 4,000 mAh to 4,350 mAh - a change that is not limited to quantity but also involves a change in technology.

Instead of the initially planned silicon-carbon battery, Clicks has now opted for a more robust lithium-ion solution on the market, safer and with more consistent performance in terms of lifetime and stability at charge. This Decision reflects a priority given to end-user reliability, in particular in the context of a device intended for intensive use for messages, emails and calls - activities in which the physical keyboard plays a central role.

The operating system has also been updated: instead of Android 16, the phone will launch with Android 17, the latest version of Google's platform available at the time of writing. Clicks has confirmed that it will provide support for the operating system up to and including Android 20, as well as five years of security updates - a commitment that places the Communicator among the devices with extended support life, comparable to that of premium phones.

The phone itself is not a limited

Although the physical keyboard is the distinctive and central element of the design, Clicks has ensured that it does not isolate the user from the experience of a modern smartphone. The keyboard is actually a hybrid: it has physical keys for printing, but it's also touch sensitive, allowing you to scroll and navigate through the interface with your finger. The space bar also functions as a fingerprint sensor, allowing for quick unlocking of the phone or authentication in applications. In addition, there is a dedicated key called „Prompt Key ”, which can activate the voice-text conversion function on the device or unlock the Gemini AI assistant - an integration that underscores the desire to make communication as fluid and efficient as possible.

The phone itself is not a limited device. In addition to the keyboard, the Communicator includes a 4.03 inch AMOLED display with resolution suitable for daily use, a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor - a mid- to upper-class chip that provides smooth application performance, light gameplay and multitasking - 256 GB of internal memory, microSD slot extensible, a 50 MP main camera and a 24 MP front camera, capable of capturing detailed images under varying lighting conditions.

The connectivity is complete: support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, eSIM, nano SIM slot and even a 3.5mm headphone jack - a rare feature in modern phones, but highly appreciated by users who prefer wired audio solutions. All of these elements place the Communicator at the level of a powerful mid-range smartphone, not that of a niche or nostalgic device.

Another innovative aspect is the customizable lateral indicator. This small band, placed next to the chassis, may be programmed to display different colours depending on the contact or application that sent the notification. For example, a message from a coworker can trigger a white flash, while a call from a family member can trigger a shade of blue. This system allows the user to quickly identify the nature of a notification without having to open the screen or unlock the phone - a small innovation that reduces fun and improves efficiency in professional or personal settings.
