Nokia's latest feature phone is designed for users who want a reliable device that can provide extra power and functionality without sacrificing simplicity. The Nokia 300 Charge is built to be a practical and versatile backup phone.
One of the standout features of this device is its massive 3,700mAh battery, the largest removable battery ever integrated into a Nokia feature phone. According to the manufacturer, it offers up to 40 days of standby time and up to 37.9 hours of continuous talk time. The battery can also be used to charge other devices, making the phone a portable power source. This feature, called Powerbank Mode, allows for reverse charging at up to 10 watts, compatible with phones, headphones, and other USB devices.
To facilitate this capability, HMD has included a multi-connector cable that works with USB-C, Micro USB, and USB-A ports. The phone itself can be charged via a USB-C port at 10 watts. On top of the device, there's a dedicated LED light that's up to four times brighter than the one on the 2023 Nokia 105 model. This combination of extended autonomy, removable battery, reverse charging, and a bright LED light makes the phone much more useful than just a digital detoxtool, offering practical value in emergency situations or during travel.
In addition to these advantages, the specifications remain modest. The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a rear camera also QVGA, 4MB of RAM, and 4MB of internal storage. It supports microSD cards up to 32GB, has a 3.5mm headphone jack, two SIM card slots, and runs on HMD's S30+ operating system. The total weight is 138 grams, making it easy to carry in a bag or pocket.
However, there's a significant limitation: the Nokia 300 Charge only works on 2G GSM networks, on bands 900MHz and 1800MHz. HMD doesn't mention any 4G support in the specifications. This reduces the phone's usefulness as a secondary device in countries where 2G networks have been shut down, such as the US. Considering HMD already offers other Nokia feature phones with 4G connectivity, it would be logical to see an updated version of this model with LTE support to make it relevant in other parts of the world.
